1): How I would describe the Winterbottom family is straight-laced and very Better Homes and Gardens model family. They seem like they would try to dress and act like Mary Poppins (practically perfect in every way), but excluding the magical stuff. Maybe like a re-make of Leave It To Beaver like in a way. I'm kind of glad that my family is a bit non-average when I look at these guys.
ReplyDelete2): The note "You can't keep the birds of sadness from flying over your head, but you can keep them from nesting in you hair", I think the statement means that you can't keep sadness away from everything around you, but you stop it from getting to you. I think this message applies to Sal because she suppresses feelings and tries not to think about the bad stuff out of her daily life.

ReplyDeleteThe Winterbottom's are this highclass family that thinks that they are better than everyone else. She's like afraid of her own shadow. Well, she would be if that was possible. I wonder why she didn't want to tell her dad about the notes. I doubt that the notes are actually from that creeper that follows them. I actually think that they are from Ben to Sal. The whole family is afraid of everything. Scardie cats.

ReplyDeleteThe Winterbottom family is what i think a boring family. The Parents are just like dull and don't say much. The talk all elligent. Her mom tries to do a lot for their family, but no one really says thank you, or pretends to enjoy it. Phoebe is really weird, and comes up with weird things about people. And she like always finds something bad about someone. Like the "lunatic."

Kind of like the Grizzly man on the Animal Planet, except no one gets eaten and when you get shredded into a bloody mess with your guts spewing out all of the place and it gets caught on camera, only the media and the Save the Bears dudes cover it up.

ReplyDeleteThe Winterbottom family is very neat and polite and sort of stuck up. I think that Mrs. Winterbotom is like depressed that she isn't leading a fun big life! And she is stuck at home to clean, bake, cook, sew, and run errands. Phoebe is very paranoid and likes to be right I think. Prudence is THE Prudence, I think she thinks she is perfect and thinks the world revolves around her. Then Mr. Winterbottom is very seriousy and down to business! Also, I think that he wants his family to be perfect!

Gram and Gramps are way weirded then my grandparents. They talk a lot different and aren't as neat and cleany. My grandparents wouldn't just jump in a river naked like them. CREEPY. But I still think they are cool people some of the time.

It was really weird how Tom was carrying her when she was naked, weird. Everyone likes Sal. Ben and now Tom. He's a creeper though. If I were her she should stay away from Tom.

Just to clarify for you, Gram and Gramps were not naked. They were in their underclothes, which would mean they were as covered up as they would be in a bathing suit.

ReplyDeleteI think the phrase of "You can't keep the birds of sadness from flying over your head, but you can keep them from nesting in your hair." means that you cannot not let bad things happen, but you can keep the bad things from not getting to you. I think this was directed to Phoebe's mom because when they got the first message I think she knew who it was because she didn't want to tell Mr. Winterbottom about this, and well I don't really know why I think this was directed to her. I just sort of think it is.

The Winterbottom family is a percise and neat and perfect acting family. Like they always talk proper and sit up straight and heaven forbid they slouch. They are also strange. For example they are very dull, like they talk so proper. I mean the whole point of a voice is to talk funny and make up weird words and stuff.

ReplyDeleteDescribe The Winterbottom Family. The mom is very weird, and just decided to go away for a bit, because she is scared of the Lunatic. The father isn't home much, and doesn't really say anything. He talks all rich like and answers stuff like "yes honey" "is that right". Weird stuff like that. Phoebe says the weirdest things about stuff. She has a crazy mind. Prudence is just out there. She is really afraid of cheerleading tryouts coming up. Her mom is really the weird one I think, and is easily frightened. She makes sure all the doors are locked, and she is always wondering where Phoebe is. I wonder if she comes back from going away. Maybe she won't and it will be just like what happened to Sal. Who knows?
They all have a bit of crazy to them I think. But Phoebe's Mom is the worst. I think they need to tell us some more about Mr. Winterbottom.

ReplyDeleteGram and Gramps remind me of my Grandma and Grandpa Webber because they live in Arizona in the winter, but in the summer they live in Cascade. So they travel sort of a lot! Even though they are sort of old.... they still have a lot of energy and have a lot of fun! But they do like to relax! They are really funny sometimes, and sometimes they call me funny names, But not like chickabiddy or anything! They are really fun to be around and never get board!!

ReplyDeleteI'm terrified of snakes and I would flip-out if I was bitten by one. I wouldn't just sit there and say is this a poisinous snake? I would scream at the top of my lungs and I wouldn't know to do and I would be hopping around on one foot trying to get a way from the snake that attacked me.

Sal's gram and grandps are really nice to each other because when gram got bite by the snake and grandps carried gram out of the water and brought her to the hospital so she could survive, but I think she is going to die any ways.

I have a new assumption about the Winterbottom family: the children are kind of jerks. I'm sorry if some would disagree with me, but think about it. Prudence and Phoebe have Mrs. Winterbottom jumping around like a clown, and not even saying thanks! I feel like a good daughter when I watch these two display rude, ungrateful, and arrogant behavior. They don't even ask about how their mother's day was! I'm sounding really naggy right now but, I don't care, these daughters need to open their eyes and see 'cause they are as blind as one can be!

That's sad because it's like my cousin's girlfriend. Except, her baby didn't die. Caleb is still alive. I'm glad because he's like the happiest baby on the face of this planet.

That would hurt to break your leg falling out of a tree! Though I don't think that the baby Tulip died from her mom carrying Sal. I would also be VERY scared!!!!!!!!!!! I have never fallen out of tree, yet....

I think the message means that you control how you react to things and how you feel about certain things.
ReplyDeleteI think that this note refers to Phoebe because she is really freaking out about how her mother left her and that she thinks she was kidnapped and she is really scared about the fact that she might not be coming back. And I think the note is telling her to relax and really think about an explanation and get evidence before you start jumping to conclusions like when Phoebe thought her mother was kidnapped.

I think they are so used to having their mother take care of all of their needs that they take it for granted. It does make us look at our own mothers a bit differently and wonder what things we might have taken for granted. What are some things that your mother has done for you that you might not have appreciated enough?

Gram and Gramps aren't anything like my grandma and grandpa. My grandma and grandpa are cool and all, but they don't go swimming and they don't let strangers suck on their bloody legs, but I still like the grandparents in the book
